Pont-et-Massène: a village by the water...
Welcome to Pont-et-Massène, a charming little village in the Côte d’Or, where you can enjoy a pleasant stroll. If you love nature, you’re in for a treat! A typical Burgundy village, Pont-et-Massène will win you over with its authenticity and peaceful atmosphere. Its charming Roman stone bridge (yes, it’s all in the name), which spans the Armançon, offers a picturesque setting perfect for a stroll with friends or family. Less impressive than the big red metal bridge at the dike, of course… Here, the banks of the lake invite you to relax and enjoy an impromptu picnic in the heart of nature: everything is laid out! Don’t miss the little church of St-Clément (in St-Euphrône just next door), a fine example of local heritage. If you’re a keen walker, there are a number of paths winding around the village, offering spectacular views of the lake and surrounding area. The ideal opportunity to discover the local flora and fauna, with forests, meadows and wetlands where you’ll spot a whole host of birds! Don’t forget your walking shoes…

Lac de Pont: an unspoilt natural setting
Ready for a dip in the heart of nature? Situated in the heart of a green setting, Lac de Pont is a real natural gem, covering almost 120 hectares. If you like to breathe in the fresh air, it’s the perfect spot to relax, go for a walk and observe the local wildlife. You can enjoy a family stroll along its gentle shady banks and why not take in the beautiful panorama with a picnic? Fishing enthusiasts will also find plenty to enjoy here: pike, carp and perch await you (although you’ll need a bit of rod and reel). With its calm waters and enchanting setting, Lac de Pont is the perfect place to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Fresh air and thrills: head for the Lac de Pont water sports centre!
Typical villages are all well and good, but how about getting out and about in the great outdoors, or enjoying a picture-postcard setting on the shores of Lac de Pont? If you love water sports, you’ve come to the right place… On the programme at the water sports centre: paddle, canoe, pedalo to enjoy a ride on the waves, conquering the peaceful waters of the lake. More thrills you say? Try waterskiing or wakeboarding (you may not get it right the first time, but there’s a first time for everything…). For those who prefer to savour the scenery and peaceful atmosphere on dry land, lay back on the equipped beach, directly accessible from the campsite: royal, isn’t it? Make the most of the fine sand, lay out your towel and let yourself be lulled by the lapping of the water. Swimming is supervised in season, so young and old alike can enjoy it in complete safety. And because there’s no time to ask for an ice cream, take a sweet break to fill up on energy at one of the snack bars or restaurants around the lake.

Hiking paths around Lac de Pont: the perfect way to enjoy nature!
Whether you’re a seasoned walker or a casual stroller, we have a number of trails for you to explore, to get a closer look at nature… These include the 12.7-kilometre walk around Lac de Pont, which is accessible all year round and well signposted. For Sunday walkers or young hikers, you don’t have to do the whole loop, of course, but you can still take time to admire the scenery! There are also a few places that are a little more mysterious: Roche fendue, Roche du Chien, Rus d’Anys, Gougontare, Poron du Cerveau… A sumptuous mix of rocks, nature and wooden footbridges spanning the streams that flow into the lake or marshy areas. A multitude of scenery to discover as you stroll along!

Semur-en-Auxois: a medieval gem and a step back in history...
Welcome to Semur-en-Auxois, the jewel of Burgundy, just 4 km from the campsite. Start your visit at the majestic Porte Sauvigny, one of the main entrances to the fortified town and so typical of the local heritage. You can then stroll through the picturesque streets, admire the half-timbered houses and cross the Pont Joly, which offers a breathtaking view of the medieval town. The collegiate church of Notre-Dame, a true Gothic masterpiece, with its sumptuous stained-glass windows (a must for all lovers of history and architecture…). And for even more history, the Semur-en-Auxois museum reveals the secrets of the town’s past through its fascinating collections. A fun day out for all the family! It’s said that culture can make you hungry (or so it seems…), so it’s time to indulge! Take a seat on the terrace to sample a Burgundian speciality (oeufs en meurette, snails, boeuf bourguignon…) accompanied by a glass of local wine (in moderation) and why not pop into one of the small artisan shops afterwards…

Head for Flavigny-sur-Ozerain: a journey through time and flavours...
If you still haven’t had enough of beautiful stone buildings, Flavigny-sur-Ozerain, one of the ‘Most Beautiful Villages in France’, is well worth a visit! Take a trip back to the Middle Ages, with a gourmet twist to boot! Here, the cobbled streets wind between charming stone houses, offering an enchanting setting that was even used as the backdrop for the film ‘Le Chocolat’ starring Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp (yes, himself…). But you haven’t been born without seeing those distinctive little tins: Anis de Flavigny! Push open the doors of the former Benedictine abbey transformed into a confectionery and let yourself be seduced by the sweet fragrance of the little aniseed sweets that have been made there for over 400 years. It’s a tasty and historic visit that will appeal to all ages.In terms of heritage, the village offers superb views over the Burgundy countryside. Take a stroll through the narrow flower-lined streets, visit the church of Saint-Genest and soak up the timeless atmosphere that makes Flavigny-sur-Ozerain a must-see during your stay in the Côte-d’Or.

Fontenay Abbey: a Cistercian jewel in the heart of nature
Immerse yourself in a haven of peace and visit the Fontenay Abbey, a UNESCO World Heritage Site (30mn from the campsite). Founded in 1118 by Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, this Cistercian abbey is a feat of medieval architecture, where harmony and sobriety reign supreme. Wander through its magnificently preserved buildings and discover an uncluttered church, a soothing cloister and even a medieval forge, a reminder of the genius of the monk-builders. Immerse yourself in the heart of the 12th century, in a place where silence and spirituality reign supreme… Don’t worry, the guide will accompany you! The abbey’s natural setting, surrounded by manicured gardens and woodland, is an invitation to contemplation and rest. A must-see for lovers of history and fine stonework!

The Bussy-Rabutin castle: between elegance and scandal
If you’re a lover of history and beautiful stones (stones again!), we’d like to welcome you to the Château de Bussy-Rabutin (25mn from the campsite)! This magnificent Renaissance building, listed as a Historic Monument, was once the home of the famous Count Roger de Bussy-Rabutin, a courtier as talented as he was undisciplined. After revealing too much about the private life of Louis XIV, he found himself exiled here… but far from moping around, he turned it into a place very much in his image, and rather pleasant to visit… Prepare yourself for a journey back in time: sumptuous frescoes, portrait galleries and quotations from its owner dot the castle’s rooms. It has to be said that Bussy-Rabutin was not one to mince his words, and did not skimp on the spicy details when it came to the Court! The French-style gardens are also well worth a visit. Perfectly trimmed paths in a tranquil setting. With its blend of elegance, irony and period charm, a visit to the Château de Bussy-Rabutin is a must, and will help you discover Burgundy from an angle that’s as historical as it is enjoyable!

Take a trip back in time at the MuséoParc Alésia!
Does the siege of Alesia between Caesar and Vercingetorix ring a bell? Probably some distant memories of primacy… Head to the MuséoParc Alésia to revisit all that (20mn from the campsite)! Dive into the heart of history with impressive reconstructions, interactive exhibitions (kids will love them) and even a gladiator show. The modern, fun interpretation centre takes you on a fascinating adventure where Romans and Gauls are waiting for you to count their exploits. You can also venture onto the site of the Gallo-Roman remains and admire the huge statue of Vercingetorix (he wasn’t really that big…). For the more inquisitive, there are live demonstrations and events to help you understand the weapons and strategies of ancient warfare. In short, it’s a great mix of culture and fun, as educational as it is entertaining. Leather togas and skirts aren’t necessarily the order of the day – come as you are!
